Intercom Fin costs $0.99 per outcome on every Intercom plan, with a minimum of 50 outcomes a month, and $9.99 for each sales qualification. Intercom seats are billed on top: $29, $85 or $132 a seat a month on annual terms, or $39, $99 and $139 paid monthly. Fin also runs standalone on other helpdesks at the same $0.99 with no Intercom seats. In practice, Fin costs you $0.99 times your resolution rate for every conversation it sees, so a team resolving half its chats pays about $0.50 per conversation.

How much does Intercom Fin cost?

These figures come from intercom.com/pricing, fin.ai/pricing and Intercom's own pricing guide, read in September 2026. Intercom sells Fin two ways: as part of an Intercom plan, where you also pay for seats, or as a standalone AI agent on the helpdesk you already run. The per outcome rate is the same in both.

Line item Annual billing Monthly billing Notes
Fin outcome $0.99 $0.99 Resolutions, procedure handoffs, disqualifications, self-serve routings
Fin qualification $9.99 $9.99 When Fin qualifies a sales lead
Fin minimum 50 outcomes 50 outcomes So never less than $49.50 a month
Essential seat $29 $39 Per seat, per month
Advanced seat $85 $99 20 Lite seats included
Expert seat $132 $139 50 Lite seats included
Copilot $29 per agent $35 per agent AI assist for human agents
Pro add-on From $99 From $99 Analysis of 1,000 conversations a month
Proactive Support Plus $99 $99 Includes 500 messages
Fin Voice Custom quote Custom quote Select customers, through sales

The seat price is the part everybody quotes and the part that matters least once Fin is live. Three Essential seats cost $87 a month. Fin at 1,500 outcomes costs $1,485. On most real invoices the outcome line is the bill, and the seats are a rounding error beside it.

What counts as a Fin outcome?

An outcome is a conversation where Fin delivered something. Intercom counts four kinds at $0.99: a resolution, where the customer confirms the answer helped or leaves without asking for more; a procedure handoff, where Fin runs a workflow and then passes the conversation on as designed; a disqualification; and a self-serve routing. A qualification, where Fin collects the details that make a visitor a sales lead, costs $9.99.

What is not charged is just as important. A conversation that Fin simply transfers to your team without an outcome costs nothing. That is fair, but it means your bill is a direct function of how good Fin is on your content. Improve the help center and the invoice goes up, because more conversations end in an outcome.

What does Fin cost per month at your volume?

Multiply conversations by the share Fin resolves, then by $0.99. The table uses three Essential seats on annual billing ($87) and three resolution rates, because that rate is the one number you will not know until the trial ends.

Conversations a month 30% resolved 50% resolved 70% resolved
1,000 $384 $582 $780
3,000 $978 $1,572 $2,166
10,000 $3,057 $5,037 $7,017
Per conversation, Fin only $0.30 $0.50 $0.69

The spread is the budgeting problem. At 3,000 conversations, the same account costs $978 or $2,166 depending on a rate you cannot see in advance. Run the 14 day trial on a normal week of traffic, not a quiet one, and forecast from the rate you actually reach. The trial gives unlimited outcomes and needs no card, so there is no reason to guess.

Is Intercom Fin worth the money?

Against a human, almost always. The US median wage for customer service representatives is $21.53 an hour (BLS, May 2025). Load that by about 30 percent for taxes and benefits and assume a rep closes 4 to 6 chats an hour, and a human handled conversation costs roughly $4.70 to $7.00. A Fin resolution at $0.99 is five to seven times cheaper, before counting nights and weekends.

Against other AI, it depends. Help Scout's AI Answers is $0.75 per resolution. Zendesk's automated resolutions are reported at about $1.50 committed and $2.00 pay as you go. Gorgias charges $0.85 to $1.00 per automated interaction and also uses up a ticket, which our Gorgias pricing breakdown works out to about $1.05 to $1.26. Freshdesk bills its Freddy AI Agent at $0.49 per session whether it resolves or not, which our Freshdesk pricing post converts to about $1.23 per resolution at a 40 percent rate. So Fin sits in the middle of the packaged market. We put every one of them on the same five agent team on our Intercom alternatives page, including the volumes where the order changes.

The $9.99 qualification line

Support teams can skip this section. Sales teams using Fin on the website should not. A qualification costs ten times an ordinary outcome, so 300 qualified leads a month is $2,997 on top of everything else. That is more than Warmly's published Inbound Chat plan works out to per month, and we priced the full sales chat field on our Drift alternatives page. If your chat mostly books demos, compare on cost per qualified lead, not cost per outcome.

Can you use Fin without paying for Intercom seats?

Yes. Fin runs standalone on Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot, Freshworks, Dixa, Front, Zoho, Sprinklr and Gorgias, across email, chat, WhatsApp, SMS and social, at $0.99 per outcome with the same 50 outcome minimum and no seat or setup fee. This is the right move when you like Fin's answers but your helpdesk is somewhere else, or when Intercom seats are the part of the bill you want gone.

Keep the expectation honest: moving five Essential seats to a $19 helpdesk saves about $50 a month. The saving is real only for larger teams on Advanced or Expert, where twenty seats cost $1,700 a month on Intercom.

Discounts and how to lower the Fin bill

Intercom's Early Stage program takes 93 percent off year one, 50 percent off year two and 25 percent off year three for companies that raised under $10 million and have fewer than 15 employees, and adds free Fin outcomes in year one. Outside that, the levers are yours. Annual billing cuts seats by 5 to 26 percent depending on the plan. Routing low value conversations, such as order status that your store page already shows, away from Fin cuts outcomes you do not need to pay for. And the conversations Fin hands off without an outcome are a free list of the articles your help center is missing; pulling them next to usage data and survey responses in product analytics that unifies tickets and feedback shows which gaps come from the product rather than the docs.

When does a custom AI agent cost less than Fin?

A custom support agent built on your helpdesk pays about $0.05 of model tokens per conversation, whether it resolves it or not. Add $290 to $750 a month of hosting and upkeep and a build of 80 to 200 hours spread over two years, and a lean build carries about $490 a month of fixed cost and an expensive one about $2,000.

Fin resolution rate Lean build breaks even at Expensive build breaks even at
30% about 1,980 conversations about 8,100 conversations
50% about 1,100 conversations about 4,490 conversations
70% about 760 conversations about 3,110 conversations

The better Fin performs, the sooner a build pays off, because Fin charges for success and a custom agent does not. Below the break-even, stay on Fin and spend the effort on your help center. Above it, the gap grows by about $0.45 for every conversation at a 50 percent rate, provided the build matches Fin on answer quality, which is why any build should be scored on a few hundred real transcripts before it goes live. If the math points to a build, describe your volume, helpdesk and the systems it has to read in a hire brief, and get matched with chatbot developers with their rates up front. Build and buy are compared across more vendors on our AI customer service agent pricing page.

Intercom Fin pricing questions buyers ask

Is Fin included in Intercom plans?

Fin is available on every Intercom plan, Essential, Advanced and Expert, but it is not free on any of them. Each outcome is billed at $0.99 on top of the seat price, with a 50 outcome monthly minimum. The only period with unlimited Fin at no charge is the 14 day trial.

Does Intercom charge when Fin hands off to a human?

Only if the handoff is an outcome. A procedure handoff, where Fin runs a defined workflow and then passes the conversation on as designed, is billed at $0.99. A plain transfer to your team, where Fin did not complete anything, is not charged.

How much is Intercom chatbot pricing for a small team?

For one Essential seat on annual billing and 300 resolved conversations a month, Intercom costs $29 plus $297, so $326 a month. The Fin minimum of 50 outcomes means the AI line is never below $49.50. Lighter credit based bots cost less at that size; our Chatbase pricing breakdown covers one of them.

Is Intercom Fin cheaper than Zendesk AI?

Per resolution, yes. Fin is $0.99 per outcome, while Zendesk lists $1.50 per verified resolution on committed volume and $2.00 pay as you go, after a small dollar allowance per seat (our Zendesk pricing post has the full math). Zendesk seats can be cheaper, but at any real AI volume the resolution price decides the bill.
