Gorgias pricing is per ticket, not per seat: Starter is $10 a month for 50 tickets, Basic $60 for 300, Pro $360 for 2,000 and Advanced $900 for 5,000, with about 17 percent off on annual billing ($50, $300 and $750). Extra tickets cost $0.40 on Starter and Basic and $0.36 on Pro and Advanced. The AI Agent is a second meter at $0.85 to $1.00 per automated interaction, and every automated interaction also uses up a ticket. That second meter is where most of the surprise on a Gorgias invoice comes from.
How much does Gorgias cost per month?
These are the US prices on gorgias.com/pricing, read in September 2026. Gorgias sells two products, the Helpdesk and the AI Agent, and the plan cards show them both separately and bundled. Here is the helpdesk alone.
| Plan | Monthly / annual | Tickets included | Per included ticket | Extra tickets |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $10, monthly only | 50 (3 user seats) | $0.20 | $0.40 each |
| Basic | $60 / $50 ($600 a year) | 300 | $0.20 / $0.17 | $40 per 100 |
| Pro | $360 / $300 ($3,600 a year) | 2,000 | $0.18 / $0.15 | $36 per 100 |
| Advanced | $900 / $750 ($9,000 a year) | 5,000 | $0.18 / $0.15 | $36 per 100 |
| Enterprise | Talk to sales | Above 5,000 | Quote | Quote |
Two details matter more than the headline. First, Basic, Pro and Advanced list 500 user seats, so adding a seasonal agent in November costs nothing; you pay for conversations, not people. Second, a billable ticket is one your team or your rules actually touch, so spam and auto-closed noise should not eat the allowance, but every customer thread that gets a reply does.
How much does the Gorgias AI Agent cost?
The AI Agent is billed per automated interaction, meaning a conversation it closes without a human. When you toggle "Add AI Agent" on the pricing page, each plan picks up a bundle of interactions, and the bundle prices decode cleanly.
| Plan with AI Agent | Monthly | Annual, per month | Interactions included | Implied rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $40 ($10 + $30) | Monthly only | 30 | $1.00 |
| Basic | $90 ($60 + $30) | $77 ($50 + $27) | 30 | $1.00 / $0.90 |
| Pro | $550 ($360 + $190) | $471 ($300 + $171) | 190 | $1.00 / $0.90 |
| Advanced | $1,430 ($900 + $530) | $1,227 ($750 + $477) | 530 | $1.00 / $0.90 |
So the bundles charge $1.00 an interaction on monthly billing and $0.90 on annual. The comparison grid lower on the same page lists the per-interaction rate as $1.00 on Starter, $0.90 on Basic and Pro and $0.85 on Advanced, which reads as the rate for interactions beyond the bundle. Ask which one applies to your contract; on 2,000 interactions a month the gap between $0.85 and $1.00 is $300.
The line that catches people: each automated interaction also counts as a helpdesk ticket. On Pro billed annually, an AI-resolved conversation costs $0.90 plus a $0.15 slice of the plan, about $1.05. Once you are past the 2,000 ticket allowance it costs $0.90 plus $0.36 of overage, about $1.26. Automation does not shrink the helpdesk bill; it adds to it.
Which Gorgias plan is cheapest for your ticket volume?
Because overage is linear, each plan has a volume where the next one up becomes cheaper. Solving base plus overage against the next plan's base gives these crossovers:
- Starter to Basic at about 175 tickets a month ($10 + $0.40 per ticket over 50 reaches $60).
- Basic to Pro at about 925 tickets on annual billing, or 1,050 on monthly.
- Pro to Advanced at about 3,250 tickets on annual billing, or 3,500 on monthly.
Remember to count automated interactions in the ticket number. A store with 2,400 human tickets and 1,000 AI resolutions is a 3,400 ticket store, and on annual billing Advanced is already the cheaper plan.
What does Gorgias really cost a Shopify brand?
Two worked examples at annual prices, using the bundle rate of $0.90 per interaction.
A 1,500 ticket store automating 40 percent. That is 600 AI interactions and 900 human tickets, 1,500 tickets in total, so Pro covers it with room to spare. Helpdesk $300, AI Agent 600 x $0.90 = $540, total $840 a month, or about $10,080 a year. The AI line is 64 percent of the bill.
A 4,000 ticket store automating half. That is 2,000 AI interactions. On Pro: $300 base, 2,000 tickets of overage at $0.36 ($720), AI $1,800, total $2,820. On Advanced: $750 base, no overage, AI $1,700 to $1,800 depending on which rate applies, total $2,450 to $2,550 a month. Moving up a tier saves roughly $300 a month, which is the kind of thing nobody checks after the first invoice.
Is Gorgias AI Agent cheaper than Tidio Lyro or Intercom Fin?
Per resolved conversation, it sits in the middle. Intercom Fin charges $0.99 per outcome and HubSpot's Customer Agent $0.50 per resolution, both only when the AI actually resolves. Tidio's Lyro charges $0.70 to $0.78 for every conversation it handles, resolved or not, so at a 50 percent resolution rate it works out near $1.40 per solved chat, which we worked through on our Tidio alternatives comparison. Gorgias at $0.85 to $1.00 per automated interaction, plus the ticket, lands around $1.05 to $1.26. The Intercom side, including the $9.99 qualification outcome and Fin used on other helpdesks, is in our Intercom Fin pricing breakdown.
What the price does not show is the Shopify depth. Gorgias AI Agent can cancel orders, issue discounts and process returns inside the store on the plans above Starter, which is most of what an ecommerce support queue asks for. Cheaper credit-based widgets such as the ones in our Chatbase pricing breakdown answer questions but do not touch orders. If the reason you want AI is to lift sales rather than deflect tickets, fix the page first: a conversion audit of your product page copy and checkout often moves more revenue than a chat agent that recommends products on a page nobody finishes reading.
When does a custom AI agent cost less than Gorgias?
Many brands keep the Gorgias helpdesk and consider replacing only the AI Agent with one they own, built on the same help center and connected to Shopify through its API. A custom agent pays roughly $0.05 of model tokens per conversation. Against that, add $290 to $750 a month for hosting and upkeep and a build of about 60 to 160 hours spread over two years ($150 to $1,000 a month), so $440 to $1,750 of fixed cost.
Each automated interaction saves about $0.85 ($0.90 minus $0.05), so the custom agent breaks even at roughly 500 to 2,100 automated interactions a month. Below that, stay on Gorgias. Above it, especially past 3,000 a month, the saving runs into the thousands, provided the build handles order lookups, refunds and handoff as well as Gorgias does. Two caveats: if the custom agent writes its conversations back into Gorgias as tickets, you still pay the ticket; and a careless build can burn three times the tokens, so test it on a few hundred real transcripts before switching.
If the problem is the whole invoice rather than only the AI line, a seat based helpdesk can be cheaper for a small team. We priced Richpanel, Re:amaze, eDesk, Help Scout, Zendesk and a custom agent for the same four agent store on our Gorgias alternatives page, including the team size where Gorgias wins back the lead.
If that math points to a build, describe the queue, the Shopify actions and your volume in a hire brief and get matched with chatbot developers who have shipped ecommerce agents, with their rates up front. The wider stack, from product search to returns, is on our AI for ecommerce page, and per-resolution pricing across Zendesk, Salesforce and Intercom is compared on AI customer service agent pricing.
Gorgias pricing questions buyers ask
Does Gorgias charge per user?
No. Gorgias prices the helpdesk by billable tickets per month, and the plan comparison lists 500 user seats on Basic, Pro and Advanced and 3 on Starter. Adding agents for a sales peak does not change the bill; the ticket count does. The AI Agent is billed separately per automated interaction.
What happens when you go over your Gorgias ticket limit?
You pay overage rather than getting cut off. The published rate is $0.40 per extra ticket on Starter, $40 per 100 on Basic and $36 per 100 on Pro and Advanced. If you are over the allowance every month, check the crossovers above; the next plan is often cheaper than steady overage.
Is there a Gorgias free trial?
Yes. The pricing page offers a free trial with no credit card on Basic, Pro and Advanced. Use it on a real week of tickets, including the AI Agent, because the automated interaction rate you reach in the trial is the number that drives the real invoice.
Is the Gorgias annual plan worth it?
If your volume is stable, usually yes. Annual billing takes about 17 percent off the helpdesk ($360 to $300 on Pro) and 10 percent off AI Agent bundles ($1.00 to $0.90 an interaction). If volume swings a lot or you might replace the AI Agent within the year, stay monthly until the numbers settle.
