Zendesk pricing is $19 per agent a month for Support Team, $55 for Suite Team and $115 for Suite Professional on annual billing, or $25, $69 and $149 month to month. AI agents are billed per verified resolution at $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay as you go, and Copilot adds $50 per agent. For a ten agent Suite Team whose AI resolves 3,200 tickets a month, the real Zendesk cost is about $5,330 a month, and 90 percent of it is the AI line.
How much does Zendesk cost?
These figures come from zendesk.com/pricing and Zendesk's help center, read on October 2, 2026. All prices are US dollars per agent a month. Suite Enterprise and Enterprise Plus are sold by quote, and Suite Growth no longer appears on the public page even though the help center still lists it as a current plan for existing customers.
| Plan | Annual | Monthly | AI allowance per seat | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Support Team | $19 | $25 | $2 a month | Email and web form ticketing only. No messaging, no voice |
| Suite Team | $55 | $69 | $2 a month | Email, messaging, voice and a help center in one workspace |
| Suite Professional | $115 | $149 | $5 a month | Skills based routing, SLAs, multiple brands, more reporting |
| Suite Enterprise | By quote | By quote | $10 a month | Sandbox, custom roles, advanced workflows, Copilot bundled |
Third-party trackers still quote Support Professional at $115 and Support Enterprise at $169 on annual terms. Those plans are not on Zendesk's current public page, so treat those numbers as what existing customers pay rather than something you can buy today.
How much do you save paying Zendesk annually?
Between 20 and 24 percent. Support Team drops from $25 to $19, Suite Team from $69 to $55 and Suite Professional from $149 to $115. For ten Suite Professional seats that is $1,490 a month against $1,150, a difference of $4,080 a year. The catch is the commitment: annual seats are paid for the full term even if your team shrinks in month four. A team that expects to cut headcount, or to migrate within the year, should price both and not assume the annual figure.
How much do Zendesk AI agents cost?
Zendesk bills its AI agents per automated resolution. The pricing page lists $1.50 per resolution when you buy a committed block in advance and $2.00 pay as you go. Overage is billed monthly whatever your contract term.
On May 18, 2026 Zendesk changed what counts. Every conversation the AI touches now ends in one of three outcomes, and only one of them is billable:
$0
Assisted escalation
The AI helped, then a person finished the ticket
$0
Contained resolution
The AI answered and the customer asked for nothing more
$1.50+
Verified resolution
The AI resolved the issue. This is the billable unit
The included allowance changed at the same time. It is now a dollar amount per seat each month: $2 on Support plans and Suite Team, $5 on Suite Growth and Professional, $10 on Enterprise and Enterprise Plus, capped at $5,000 a year on any plan. At $1.50 a resolution, ten Suite Team seats buy about 13 resolutions a month with their allowance. Treat it as a rounding error, not a free tier.
Two settings matter. "Allow overage" keeps the AI answering after the allowance and bills each extra resolution. "Don't allow overage" pauses the AI when the allowance runs out, which caps spend but sends every remaining conversation to a person. One honest caveat: Zendesk's migration article calls the prices in its own examples placeholders, so confirm the per resolution rate in your order form before you sign.
What does a Zendesk AI resolution cost against other helpdesks?
Because Zendesk only bills verified resolutions, its $1.50 is a true cost per resolved ticket. That makes it easy to put next to the others, after converting the vendors that bill attempts rather than results.
| AI agent | Billed on | Cost per resolved ticket |
|---|---|---|
| Zendesk AI agents | Verified resolution | $1.50 committed, $2.00 pay as you go |
| Freshdesk Freddy AI Agent | Session, resolved or not ($0.49) | $1.23 at a 40% resolution rate, $1.96 at 25% |
| Intercom Fin | Outcome | From $0.99 |
| Help Scout AI Answers | Resolution | $0.75 |
| HubSpot Customer Agent | Resolved conversation, 50 credits | About $0.50 |
| Custom agent on the Zendesk API | Model tokens, about $0.05 a conversation | About $0.13 at 40%, plus fixed build cost |
Freshdesk is the interesting comparison. Its Freddy session costs a third of a Zendesk resolution, but it charges for failures too, so it only wins while Freddy resolves more than about one ticket in three. Our Freshdesk pricing post runs that break-even in detail, and the Intercom Fin pricing post covers running Fin on top of Zendesk at $0.99 per outcome, which halves the AI unit without moving a single ticket.
How much is Zendesk Copilot?
$50 per agent a month on annual billing, bundled into Suite Enterprise. Copilot is for your own agents: it suggests replies, summarizes long threads and proposes the next step. It is not the AI that answers customers, so it does not reduce the resolution bill. At a loaded US support cost of about $35 an hour, Copilot pays for itself if it saves each agent roughly 86 minutes a month, around four minutes a working day. For agents writing replies all day that bar is usually cleared; for a team that mostly handles phone calls it may not be.
What other add-ons does Zendesk charge for?
The workforce engagement bundle (scheduling, forecasting and quality assurance) is $50 per agent a month, and Contact Center is $83 per agent a month, both on annual terms. Voice usage is billed separately on top of the Suite seat. US inbound calls are $0.016 a minute, voicemail transcription $0.013, post-call transcription $0.01, live transcription $0.027, and a phone number $1 a month. Calls round up to the next minute. A team taking 2,000 inbound calls a month at four minutes each, transcribed after the call, pays about $210 in voice usage, roughly 10.5 cents a call.
What does Zendesk cost for a ten agent team?
Here is the full monthly bill for ten agents on annual billing, AI on every ticket and resolving 40 percent, with the included allowance subtracted. Copilot is shown separately because many teams skip it.
| Ten agents, per month | 3,000 tickets | 8,000 tickets | 15,000 tickets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Suite Team, committed resolutions | $2,330 | $5,330 | $9,530 |
| Suite Team, pay as you go | $2,930 | $6,930 | $12,530 |
| Suite Professional, committed resolutions | $2,900 | $5,900 | $10,100 |
| Suite Professional, pay as you go | $3,500 | $7,500 | $13,100 |
| Add Copilot for all ten | +$500 | +$500 | +$500 |
Two things stand out. Committing to a block saves $0.50 on every resolution, which at 8,000 tickets is $1,600 a month, more than the whole Suite Team seat bill. And moving from Suite Team to Suite Professional costs $600 a month for ten seats but only returns $30 more allowance, so upgrade for routing, SLAs or multiple brands, never for AI.
When does a custom AI agent cost less than Zendesk AI?
Zendesk's REST API exposes tickets, users, macros and Guide articles on every paid plan, so you can keep Zendesk as the helpdesk and run your own agent on top of it. A typical scope (answers from Guide, account lookups through your own systems, a few safe actions, triage and handoff notes) is 60 to 160 hours. At $100 to $150 an hour, spread over two years with hosting and upkeep, that is about $440 to $1,750 a month of fixed cost, plus around $0.05 of model tokens per conversation.
On Suite Team seats with committed resolutions, a lean build breaks even at about 840 tickets a month and an expensive one at about 3,200. Past those points every extra ticket costs $0.05 instead of $0.60. A custom agent also writes clean tags on every ticket, and those tags are product feedback: piping them into product analytics that connects support tickets to churn tells you which issues are costing customers, not just agent time.
If that is where your numbers land, describe the volume, your Zendesk plan and the systems the agent must read in a hire brief and get matched with chatbot developers with their rates and delivery location. If you are weighing a move instead, our Zendesk alternatives page prices Help Scout, HubSpot, Freshdesk, Intercom, Zoho Desk and a custom agent for the same ten agent team.
Zendesk pricing questions buyers ask
Does Zendesk charge per agent or per ticket?
Per agent for seats, per resolution for AI. Seats are billed for every agent who works tickets, at $19 to $115 a month on annual terms. Tickets themselves are not metered, but every ticket the AI resolves is billed at $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay as you go once the small per seat allowance runs out.
Can I cap my Zendesk AI spend?
Yes. Set the account to "Don't allow overage" and the AI agent pauses when the included allowance is used, so nothing extra is billed. The trade-off is that every remaining conversation goes to a person for the rest of the month. Buying a committed block is the other way to control cost, at $1.50 instead of $2.00 a resolution.
Is Zendesk more expensive than Freshdesk?
Not on seats: Suite Team and Freshdesk Pro are both $55 a month on annual billing. With AI, Zendesk usually costs more. For ten agents at 8,000 tickets and a 40 percent resolution rate, Zendesk Suite Team is about $5,330 a month against about $4,470 for Freshdesk Pro with the Freddy AI Agent.
Does Zendesk charge for AI conversations that hand off to a human?
No, not since May 18, 2026. Assisted escalations, where the AI helps and a person finishes, and contained resolutions, where the customer simply stops replying, are not billed. Only verified resolutions draw down the allowance and incur overage charges.
