Seats, sessions and the cost of one resolved ticket
Freshdesk alternatives and Freshdesk competitors priced per AI resolution
Freshdesk has the cheapest real helpdesk seat in the category. Its AI is billed per session, though, whether Freddy solves the ticket or not. We priced seven alternatives from their own pricing pages for one eight agent team at 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 tickets a month.

the short answer
For an eight agent team at 5,000 tickets a month with AI on every ticket, the cheapest packaged Freshdesk alternative we priced is HubSpot Service Hub Professional at about $1,753, then Help Scout Plus at about $1,860, against about $2,890 for Freshdesk Pro with the Freddy AI Agent. Without AI, Freshdesk stays one of the cheapest helpdesks you can buy. A custom agent on Freshdesk Growth seats undercuts every option once volume passes about 345 tickets a month on a lean build.
Assumptions: annual billing, list prices read from each vendor's page in late September 2026, and an AI that resolves 40 percent of tickets. Move the resolution rate and the order moves too, which is why the math sits in the open below.
Why teams leave
Why support teams look for a Freshdesk alternative in 2026
Three things push teams to compare. The first is the price raise. Freshdesk's annual seat prices are now $19 for Growth, $55 for Pro and $89 for Enterprise per agent a month. A pricing tracker that archived the old page puts the previous figures at $15, $49 and $79, so Growth went up about 27 percent and the other two about 12 percent.
The second is the AI meter. The Freddy AI Agent is sold in packs of 100 sessions for $49. A session is one customer conversation inside a 24 hour window on chat or a 72 hour window on email, and it is billed whether Freddy closes the ticket or hands it to a person. New Growth, Pro and Enterprise accounts get 500 sessions once; after that, every conversation the AI touches is $0.49. Freddy AI Copilot, the assistant for your own agents, is a separate $29 per agent a month and only on Pro and Enterprise.
The third is features locked to tiers. Skill based routing and the multilingual helpdesk start on Pro, audit logs and IP whitelisting on Enterprise. A team that needs one of them jumps from $19 to $55 a seat, and an eight person team feels that as $288 a month. Our Freshdesk pricing breakdown covers every plan, add-on and day pass in detail.
8 agents, 5,000 tickets, Freddy AI Agent on all of them
- Pro seats, 8 x $55$440
- AI sessions, 5,000 x $0.49$2,450
- Copilot, optional, 8 x $29($232)
The AI line is 85 percent of the bill. Freddy resolves about 2,000 of the 5,000 sessions you paid for.
The audit
Freshdesk competitors and what their own pricing pages say
Most pages ranking for this search are written by one of the competitors, and each ranks itself first. We do not sell a helpdesk. Prices are US list prices per agent a month on annual billing, read from each vendor's page in late September 2026 unless the row says otherwise.
| Helpdesk | Seat price | AI price | Where it beats Freshdesk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freshdesk (baseline) | Growth $19, Pro $55, Enterprise $89. Day passes $2, $7 and $12 | Freddy AI Agent $49 per 100 sessions, billed per conversation, 500 sessions once. Copilot $29 per agent | This is the number to beat |
| Zendesk | Support Team $19, Suite Team $55, Suite Professional $115 | $1.50 per verified resolution committed, $2.00 pay as you go, after a $2 to $10 monthly allowance per seat | Voice, workforce management and the largest app marketplace |
| Zoho Desk | Standard $14, Professional $23, Enterprise $40 | Zia Agents included; 30 million model tokens a month, then $1 per million | Lowest seat price here, and a fit for teams already on Zoho CRM |
| Help Scout | Standard $25, Plus $45, Pro $75 | AI Answers $0.75 per resolution, with a spend cap you set | Email-first teams that want a clean inbox and a capped AI bill |
| HubSpot Service Hub | Starter from $20 monthly, Professional $90 with a $1,500 onboarding fee, Enterprise by quote | Customer Agent about $0.50 per resolved conversation (50 credits at $0.01), 3,000 credits a month included on Professional | Teams whose sales and marketing already live in HubSpot |
| Intercom | Essential $29, Advanced $85, Expert $132 | Fin $0.99 per outcome, 50 a month minimum | Chat-first SaaS products with a strong help center |
| Gorgias | Per ticket, not per seat. Pro $300 for 2,000, Advanced $750 for 5,000 | $0.85 to $1.00 per automated interaction, each one also uses a ticket | Shopify stores with many part-time agents |
| Kustomer and Gladly | No public price | No public price | Large consumer brands buying through sales |
| Custom agent | Keep Freshdesk Growth at $19 a seat | About $0.05 of model tokens per conversation, plus a 60 to 160 hour build | Real volume, product data behind your own APIs, or rules no widget can follow |
Three caveats. Zendesk's pricing page prints $1.50 and $2.00 per automated resolution, and since May 18, 2026 it bills only verified resolutions; our Zendesk alternatives page runs that math for a ten agent team. HubSpot moved Customer Agent to outcome pricing in April 2026; the credit rate falls to $0.009 on annual credit bundles, about $0.45 a resolution. And Zoho Desk bills AI by model tokens instead of resolutions, 30 million a month included and $1 per million after, so its row assumes 8,000 tokens a ticket; our Zoho Desk alternatives page shows that math.
The unit that matters
What one AI resolved ticket costs on each Freshdesk alternative
Seat prices are easy to compare and they are not where the money goes. Once AI answers your queue, the price of a resolved ticket decides the bill. Vendors quote different units, so we converted each to the same one at a 40 percent resolution rate.
Freddy is the only meter here that charges for tickets the AI does not solve. That makes it sensitive to your resolution rate in a way Fin, AI Answers and Customer Agent are not. At 25 percent, a resolved ticket on Freddy costs $1.96; at 60 percent it falls to $0.82. If your knowledge base is thin, Freddy is expensive. If it is excellent, Freddy is competitive with Intercom.

Monthly cost for eight agents at 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 tickets
Eight agents on the mid tier of each tool, annual billing, AI on every ticket and resolving 40 percent. Where a vendor meters sessions rather than resolutions (Freshdesk), every ticket is counted. HubSpot's $1,500 onboarding fee is spread over 24 months. The custom agent runs on Freshdesk Growth seats with $440 to $1,750 a month of build, hosting and upkeep cost over two years.

About 345 tickets
Where a lean custom agent ($592 fixed with Growth seats, plus $0.05 a conversation) drops below Freshdesk Pro with Freddy ($440 plus $0.49 a session). An expensive build ($1,902 fixed) needs about 3,300 tickets.
About 1,080 tickets
Where HubSpot Service Hub Professional with Customer Agent becomes cheaper than Freshdesk Pro with Freddy for eight agents. Below that, Freshdesk wins on its lower seat price.
Help Scout always wins here
At eight agents Help Scout Plus has the lower seat ($45 vs $55) and the lower AI unit ($0.30 per ticket at 40% vs $0.49), so it is cheaper than Freshdesk Pro with Freddy at every volume.
Where Freshdesk wins
When staying on Freshdesk is the cheaper call
Take the AI out and Freshdesk looks very different. Eight Pro seats cost $440 a month. The same team pays $440 on Zendesk Suite Team, $680 on Intercom Advanced and $720 on HubSpot Service Hub Professional before any AI at all. Only Zoho Desk and Help Scout come in lower, and Help Scout's Standard plan drops features many Freshdesk Pro teams use.
Freshdesk also handles seasonal staffing well. Day passes at $7 on Pro let an occasional agent log in for a day without a seat; a seat only pays off for someone who works more than about 8 days a month. So if your AI usage is light, your volume swings, or your team lives in Freshworks CRM, the honest answer is to stay and fix the AI line rather than migrate.
Eight seats, mid tier, before any AI
HubSpot also charges a $1,500 one-time onboarding fee on Professional.
Pick by situation
Which alternative to Freshdesk fits your team
Mostly email, want a capped AI bill
Help Scout. $45 a seat on Plus, AI Answers at $0.75 per resolution, and a monthly spend cap so a busy week cannot surprise you.
Sales and marketing already on HubSpot
Service Hub Professional. The seat is the priciest here, but Customer Agent at about $0.50 per resolution makes it the cheapest packaged AI bill from about 1,080 tickets.
Tight budget, light AI
Zoho Desk. Seats from $14, and the Professional tier at $23 covers most of what a Freshdesk Pro team uses. Its AI agents bill by model tokens, about $10 a month at 5,000 tickets.
Chat inside your product
Intercom. Messenger and Fin are built for in-app chat, and Fin is billed only when it resolves, at $0.99 an outcome.
Voice, WFM and 100+ agents
Zendesk. You pay more per AI resolution, but you get voice, workforce tools and the deepest marketplace of integrations.
Real volume, data behind your APIs
Keep Freshdesk Growth seats and add a custom agent. It reads your product and billing data, writes back to Freshdesk, and costs about $0.05 a conversation to run.
The middle path is often the best one: keep Freshdesk and replace only the AI. Intercom sells Fin standalone on top of other helpdesks at $0.99 per outcome, which beats Freddy below about a 50 percent resolution rate. Our Intercom alternatives page prices that option from Intercom's side, and Shopify teams should also compare Gorgias alternatives, where tickets rather than seats drive the bill.
Build it
What a custom AI agent on Freshdesk includes
Freshdesk has a full REST API on every paid plan, so a custom agent does not need you to leave. It reads the incoming ticket, answers from your knowledge base and your own systems, and either closes the ticket or hands it to the right group with a summary. Scopes we see run 60 to 160 hours. At $100 to $150 an hour that is $6,000 to $24,000, or $250 to $1,000 a month over two years, plus hosting, monitoring and upkeep.
Test it on a few hundred real tickets before it replies to a customer; our guide to evaluating an AI agent before you ship it covers the test set. Build and buy are compared across more vendors on our AI customer service page.

The honest version
Where BotGigs fits, and where it does not
BotGigs does not sell a helpdesk. It is where you hire the developer who builds the support agent on top of Freshdesk, or who moves your tickets, canned responses, automations and solution articles to the tool you picked above. Describe your ticket volume, your helpdesk, the systems the agent must read and the actions it may take, and get back a scoped hire brief with matched chatbot developers, their rates and their delivery location. Posting the job is $99 a month.
If you handle under about 350 tickets a month, you probably do not need us: Freddy's one-time 500 sessions and a few packs a year will cost less than any build. Hiring pays off when volume passes a thousand tickets, when answers depend on data in your own product, or when a migration has years of history to carry over.
Put in the hire brief
- Monthly tickets by channel and the share you expect AI to close
- Your Freshdesk plan, or the helpdesk you are moving to
- Systems the agent must read: billing, CRM, product database
- Actions it may take and the limits on each
- Go-live date and who reviews its answers in week one
Questions
Freshdesk alternative questions buyers ask
What is the best alternative to Freshdesk?
For an eight agent support team at 5,000 tickets a month with AI on every ticket, HubSpot Service Hub Professional with Customer Agent was the cheapest packaged option we priced at about $1,753 a month, then Help Scout Plus with AI Answers at about $1,860, against about $2,890 for Freshdesk Pro with the Freddy AI Agent. A custom agent on Freshdesk Growth seats costs about $842 to $2,152.
Who are Freshdesk competitors?
The helpdesks most often compared with Freshdesk are Zendesk, Zoho Desk, Help Scout, HubSpot Service Hub and Intercom, plus Gorgias for ecommerce and Kustomer or Gladly for large consumer brands. All of them except Kustomer and Gladly publish seat prices; only Help Scout, HubSpot and Intercom publish a clear price per AI resolution.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Freshdesk?
On seats alone, Zoho Desk is cheaper at $14 to $40 per agent against $19 to $89. Once AI answers tickets, the bigger saving comes from the AI meter: Freddy charges $0.49 per session, which is about $1.23 per resolution at a 40 percent resolution rate, against $0.75 on Help Scout and about $0.50 on HubSpot.
How much does Freddy AI cost per resolution?
Freshdesk sells Freddy AI Agent sessions at $49 per 100, or $0.49 each, and bills a session whether or not the AI resolves it. At a 25 percent resolution rate that is $1.96 per resolved ticket, at 40 percent $1.23, and at 60 percent $0.82. New accounts get 500 sessions once, not every month.
Is Zendesk better than Freshdesk?
Zendesk has more depth in voice, workforce management and its app marketplace, and Suite Team costs the same $55 a seat as Freshdesk Pro. It is not cheaper with AI: Zendesk bills $1.50 to $2.00 per verified resolution after a small per seat allowance, so at 5,000 tickets Zendesk came out at $3,380 to $4,360 against $2,890 for Freshdesk.
How much does it cost to build a custom AI support agent for Freshdesk?
An agent that answers from your knowledge base, reads account data through your APIs, and creates or updates Freshdesk tickets is typically 60 to 160 hours of work. Spread over two years with hosting and upkeep, that is about $440 to $1,750 a month of fixed cost plus about $0.05 of model tokens per conversation.
Helpdesk and AI prices in this category have moved several times this year, including Freshdesk's own seat raise and HubSpot's switch to outcome pricing in April. Check each rate again before you sign, and put the AI price per resolution in the contract, not just the seat price.
