Zoho Desk pricing is $7 per user a month for Express, $14 for Standard, $23 for Professional and $40 for Enterprise on annual billing, or $9, $20, $35 and $50 month to month. Zia AI agents carry no per resolution fee: Zoho hosted models include 30 million tokens a month, then cost $1 per million. For ten agents on Professional handling 5,000 conversations a month, the real Zoho Desk cost is about $240, and the AI part of that is $10.
How much does Zoho Desk cost per user?
These figures are the US dollar prices Zoho serves on zoho.com/desk/pricing, read on October 7, 2026. The page defaults to annual billing and advertises a saving of up to 34 percent over paying monthly. Zoho shows prices in the visitor's local currency, so a colleague abroad may see different numbers on the same page.
| Plan | Annual | Monthly | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Express | $7 | $9 | Email, social and web form tickets, workflows, escalations, a custom domain, AI agents and generative AI with your own model key |
| Standard | $14 | $20 | Chat widget for logged in customers, WhatsApp and other messaging channels, answer bot, knowledge base, community, custom reports |
| Professional | $23 | $35 | Phone support, the built in Zia assistant, blueprints, departments, round robin assignment, webhooks, multilingual help center |
| Enterprise | $40 | $50 | Website live chat, guided conversations, skill based assignment, multi level phone menus, multi brand help center, custom modules, sandbox |
The monthly premium is not even across plans. Paying month to month costs 29 percent more on Express, 43 percent more on Standard, 52 percent more on Professional and 25 percent more on Enterprise. Professional is the plan most teams land on, and it is also the one where monthly billing hurts most: ten agents pay $350 instead of $230.
Every paid plan comes with a 15 day trial and no credit card. Zoho's pricing FAQ also mentions a five user limit on its lower paid tier, which third party trackers attach to Express, so check the cap before you plan a small team around the $7 seat.
What Zia AI costs on Zoho Desk
This is where Zoho Desk differs from every helpdesk it competes with. Zendesk, Freshdesk, Intercom, Help Scout, HubSpot and Front all bill AI by the result, from about $0.50 to $1.50 per resolved conversation. Zoho bills the model usage and nothing else. Its Zia Agents pricing page says the agents themselves carry no fee and that you pay only for the language model.
- Zoho hosted models, standard tier. 30 million tokens a month included, then $1 per million tokens.
- Zoho hosted model, Pro tier. 20 million tokens a month included, then $3 per million. Zoho lists it as available on request in its US and India data centers.
- Your own key. Connect an OpenAI, Gemini or Claude key and the vendor bills you directly at its own rates. Zoho adds no platform fee.
The included tokens reset on the first of each month and do not carry over. A support conversation with a few retrieved help articles and several turns uses about 8,000 tokens. That figure is our assumption, so check it against your own tickets, but it makes the arithmetic easy:
| Conversations a month | Zoho standard tier | Zoho Pro tier | Own key at $0.05 each |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2,000 (16M tokens) | $0 | $0 | $100 |
| 5,000 (40M tokens) | $10 | $60 | $250 |
| 10,000 (80M tokens) | $50 | $180 | $500 |
| 25,000 (200M tokens) | $170 | $540 | $1,250 |
At a 40 percent resolution rate, the standard tier works out to about $0.02 per resolved conversation once the allowance is used up. Freshdesk's Freddy costs about $1.23 for the same result and Zendesk $1.50. The $0.05 a conversation in the last column is our working estimate for a current commercial model on the same token count.
What the price list cannot tell you is how many conversations the cheaper model actually closes. Zoho publishes no resolution rate. If a Zoho hosted model resolves 25 percent of your conversations and a tuned agent on a commercial model resolves 40, the token bill barely moves, but at 5,000 conversations your team answers 750 more of them by hand. At eight minutes each that is 100 agent hours a month, which costs far more than any of the figures in the table.
Zoho Desk cost for real teams
Seats plus tokens, annual billing unless noted, with AI on every conversation at 8,000 tokens on the standard tier.
| Team | Seats | AI tokens | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 agents, Standard, 800 conversations | $70 | $0 | $70 |
| 10 agents, Professional, 2,000 conversations | $230 | $0 | $230 |
| 10 agents, Professional, paid monthly, 2,000 conversations | $350 | $0 | $350 |
| 10 agents, Enterprise for live chat, 5,000 conversations | $400 | $10 | $410 |
| 25 agents and 10 light agents, Professional, 8,000 conversations | $635 | $34 | $669 |
| 50 agents, Enterprise, 20,000 conversations | $2,000 | $130 | $2,130 |
For scale, ten agents at 5,000 conversations with AI resolving 40 percent cost about $1,750 a month on Help Scout, $3,000 on Freshdesk Pro and $3,530 on Zendesk Suite Team. Our Zoho Desk alternatives page prices six competitors for the same team at three volumes, and the Zendesk pricing and Freshdesk pricing breakdowns show where their numbers come from, as does HubSpot Service Hub pricing for the HubSpot row.
Costs the plan prices leave out
Zoho Desk has fewer surprise charges than most helpdesks, but four things change the bill.
- Plan gates. Phone support starts at Professional. Live chat for anonymous website visitors, skill based routing and a second brand's help center need Enterprise. A team that picks Standard at $14 and then adds phone and web chat is paying $40 a seat, nearly three times the price it budgeted.
- Light agents. People who only read tickets and leave comments cost $6 a month each on Professional and Enterprise. Enterprise includes 50 of them.
- Phone minutes. The telephony feature connects a phone provider to Zoho Desk. The numbers and minutes are billed by that provider, not by Zoho Desk.
- Paid support. Classic support is included on paid plans. Faster response times, round the clock cover and dedicated onboarding are sold as separate support plans.
Zoho's price list also shows an extra department add on at $6 a month on annual billing and $7 monthly. If your structure needs more departments than your plan includes, ask sales how that add on applies before you sign.
When a developer costs less than an upgrade or a migration
Because the AI is nearly free to run, the money question on Zoho Desk is rarely the bill. It is whether the AI does the job. The packaged agents answer from your knowledge base. Getting them to read an order status, a subscription or an invoice from your own systems takes custom functions and API work, and choosing between a Zoho hosted model and your own key takes a test on real tickets.
That work is a one time project. Setting up Zia Agents properly is typically 20 to 60 hours, about $2,000 to $9,000 at $100 to $150 an hour. A fully custom agent that reads your systems and writes replies through the Zoho Desk API is 60 to 160 hours, about $6,000 to $24,000. Compare that with moving ten agents to Zendesk at 5,000 conversations, which adds about $3,290 every month, or $39,480 a year.
Start by measuring. Export last quarter's tickets and ask plain English questions of the ticket data until you know your real conversation count by channel, how many the bot closed and how long the handed off ones took. If the numbers point to the AI, describe the volume and the systems it must read in a hire brief and get matched with chatbot developers, their rates and their delivery location up front. Test any agent on a few hundred past tickets first; our guide to evaluating an AI agent before you ship it covers how.
Zoho Desk pricing questions buyers ask
Is Zoho Desk free?
Zoho Desk has a free edition with three user licenses and basic email ticketing. It leaves out light agents, phone, live chat and most automation, so a support team that is growing will be on a paid plan, which starts at $7 a user a month for Express or $14 for Standard on annual billing.
Is Zia included in Zoho Desk?
Partly. AI agents and generative AI with your own model key are listed from Express. The answer bot starts at Standard, and the built in Zia assistant with generative, predictive and analytical features starts at Professional at $23 a user. None of them carries a per resolution fee; you pay for tokens past the monthly allowance.
Is Zoho Desk cheaper than Zendesk?
Yes. Zoho Desk Professional is $23 a user against $55 for Zendesk Suite Team, and Zendesk bills AI agents at $1.50 per verified resolution on a commitment. Ten agents at 5,000 conversations a month with 40 percent resolved by AI cost about $240 on Zoho Desk and about $3,530 on Zendesk.
What is a light agent in Zoho Desk?
A light agent is a user who can view tickets and add internal comments but does not reply to customers. They cost $6 a month each on Professional and Enterprise, and Enterprise includes 50 at no extra charge. They suit engineers, finance or account managers who only need to follow a ticket.
How much is Zoho Desk for a team of 10?
$140 a month on Standard, $230 on Professional or $400 on Enterprise with annual billing, and $200, $350 or $500 paid monthly. With AI agents on 5,000 conversations a month on a Zoho hosted model, add about $10 in tokens.
